USB Freeview

An increasingly popular method of viewing the Freeview services is PC, using a Freeview USB dongle.

What is a USB Dongle?

The USB dongle is actually a device that you plug directly int othe USB port on your PC, (can either be a laptop or desktop) and via some sort of software, the device will broadcast a perfect TV picture directly onto your PC.

This is actually a very neat invention. Those of you that may have had an inbuilt PC card a few years ago or even bought a TV card for your PC, please do not be put off by the thought of upgrading, as I am sure you will not be disappointed with the USB dongle.

For starters, the USB Freeview dongle can be inserted into any USB port and simply by selecting the channel you would like to view via on the on screen interface, you will be able to start viewing that channel directly on your monitor screen.

Depending on which software comes with your USB dongle, you may also be able to set the TV picture as your background on your pc, so all you have to do is minimise the desktop if you want to watch tv- very neat!

Software supplied by Blaze video also allows you to pause and record live TV, very similar to the functionality offered by Sky plus.

You should be able to easily pick up a Freeview USB dongle for around £30 at most high street retailers without any problems.
